          The use of 3D scanners and printers to make human statues has become popular in the world, and even the US president can't help but try it out. This has also created a precedent for the production of the US president's statue.


          The White House and Smithsonian released behind-the-scenes video of the production process, revealing how they used 3D scanners to accurately and comprehensively capture the 3D data process of President Obama's appearance. The team used a mobile lighting stage that included 50 custom LED lights, eight high-resolution digital motion cameras and six additional wide-angle digital cameras. Their team used the device to capture every facial contour of Obama. They then used handheld 3D scanners to capture more data. The team imported all the information it acquired into the computer and used Autodesk software to create a detailed presidential bust 3D model. Finally, they used 3D Systems' 3D laser sintering printer to print face moldings and busts. The most exciting part of the video may be the moment when Obama first saw the bustling bust. It's hard to say that he was very surprised at the time, or he was happy to see a familiar face.

          The Smithsonian Museum did not publish the 3D data on Obama’s head, so that we could not print the president’s head at home with our own 3D printer. I don't know if they will announce the relevant data in the future.
