Located 8 kilometers Southeast of the City Hue, along the Perfume River, Tu Duc tomb is considered as one of the most beautiful and picturesque and largest works of architecture of Nguyen Dynasty’s royal palaces and tomb.
Tu Duc Tomb is not only famous for the most beautiful works, but it is also famous for romantic scenery of mounts and lakes. The design of the tomb is said to clearly reflect the profound knowledge and romance of the King’s characteristics. Tu Duc is a King who was an expert in eastern philosophy, history and literature and he is a romantic King harmony. Tu Duc Tomb consists two parts: the temple area and the tomb area. Entering Vu Khiem entrance tourists can see Luu Khiem lake. Especially, on the lake are Xung Khiem Pavilion and Du Khiem pavilion where the King used to enjoy flowers, compose poems or read books. Then steps to Khiem Cung gate, you can see HoaKhiem palace. On the both sides are PhapKhiem House and Le Khiem House for the military and civil mandarins. Next to the Hoa Khiem Palace is Luy Khiem Palace, where was King’s resting place and also worship place of Tu Duc’s mother- Mrs. Tu Du. The Tomb are includes Honour Courtyard, the stele Pavilion and the seplucre.
